About Jointing Stones
After many years of product testing, WEINIG moulder operators worldwide have endorsed the following selection of jointing stones. These stones, made of high-purity silicon carbide, provide longer stone life, give a superior finish, and prevent accumulation of steel chips in the stone. These stones provide the best possible choice for your applications.
Important considerations when selecting jointing stones are:
GRIT SIZE
The finer (higher number) the grit, the better the finish because the grains are finer. A coarse grit will remove more steel, but with less finish smoothness.
VITRIFIED BOND
Easier to shape, and cuts cooler, wears away to prevent steel accumulation on honing edge.
RESIN BOND
More difficult to shape, but holds form longer than vitrified. More resistant to chip abrasion. Will remove more steel, but must be cleaned and refreshed periodically.
